Used to love playing it for the works' team... but I get bored shitless watching it!
I used to go along with Mrs Moom to watch Wigan Athletic (pre-premiership) but that was just to pass an hour on (see? I don't even know that it lasts 90 mins!)
Anyhow.. this is what gripes me...
I love the way a member of the opposite team taking a dive gets abuse yet one of 'our lot' doesn't get the same treatment.
At a match one day, I obesrved every time a player from the away team was 'injured' (i.e. someone brushed past him and he went for the 'Claims Direct Award for rolling over and gritting his teeth') all 'our lot' gave him plenty verbals.
Then... one of the home team hit the deck and was going for the award for most convincing fractured neck of femur impersonation (and failing miserably - t'was barely a knock).
I shouted:
"For f*ck's sake, get up you marred tw*t"
The realised that I had everyone glaring at me.
Naturally, the missus didn't ask me to go again!
And by the way - what is all this 'our lot' cr*p?
"We played well the other day didn't we... I think we're going to go up next season"
We? I didn't see you running about on the pitch sunshine - you just sat there eating a pie!
You don't get that 'we' business with Classical Music...
"We gave a good concerto the other evening, although I think we let ourselves down in the allegro non molto"
