Tarrant 'worried wife wants to go 50/50'

Chris Tarrant is hoping to calm things with his wife and avoid her seeking a large divorce settlement, according to reports.

The host has asked for a quiet and "amicable" resolution amid reports that wife Ingrid wants to hire top lawyers and claim half his £35 million fortune.

A spokesman for Tarrant said the pair's split appeared to be permanent. He commented: "I think what Chris has said is pretty definitive."

Meanwhile, Tarrant explained his situation and called for privacy in a separate statement. "I am deeply sorry for the hurt I have caused to my loyal wife and wonderful children, all of whom I adore," he declared. "I have only myself to blame for the breakdown of my marriage.

"While the liaison which has led to all of this was not significant in my life, I will always regret the hurt and pain that I have caused to those whom I love. I now appeal to the media to leave us all alone to allow us to deal in private with what are intensely personal and private matters."

But a distraught and angry Ingrid was seen leaving the family home in tears. "I really cannot bear to be compared to that f***ing little cow," she told reporters, referring to the woman Tarrant had an affair with. "I've got no food in my house, the dog has no food and the cat has got no food. I've just got to get out of here."

I must admit to being surprised at Chris Tarrant. I always thought they were quite a grounded couple and she is quite attractive for her age. I saw a photo of the woman he's alleged to have had an affair with and to be honest she looks very like his wife.

I was surprised as well Lyn. with Chris. ;D I suppose it's like a lot of men, ruled by their Richard. Not me of course.
