Vorderman: I won't host 'Countdown' Wednesday, October 4 2006 Carol Vorderman has refused to be drawn into the Countdown presenter debate.
She insists she would rather continue in her current role, administering the letters and numbers, and solving the maths problems.
Vorderman was recently announced as the favourite to take the lead presenting role, after current incumbent Des Lynam announced he was leaving.
However, she has laughed off the rumours, and advised people to save their time and money: "Please don't put a bet on me as I'm really not going to be the new host of Countdown," she said. "Save your money. I love the job I have and hope to be by the numbers board for many years to come, even with my Zimmer frame."

Can't stand the woman! She has got way too big for her boots since RW's death. And ever since Pat & Joanne went to see Countdown being made and discovered that Carol does NOT work the numbers out herself [there is a man with a clipboard sitting out of view who works them out and then Carol just presents it as though she's done it herself!] she has rapidly gone down in my estimation.
If they do replace Des with her, then I will definitely stop watching. I don't watch it very often now anyway.

Well according to that she doesn't want the job. Time will tell if she changes her mind.
